“When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah. After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.” Genesis 5:21-24 NLT
Oh to be known as a man or woman who walked in close fellowship with God. What do you think it would take to maintain the consistency of this kind of walk with the Lord?
I believe there are three things that are essential to walking in close fellowship with the Lord. First, I must have a love for God that is greater than for any other person or thing in my life. “Jesus replied, ''You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'" Matthew 22:37 NLT
Second, I need to be in constant communication with Him, both calling on Him and listening to Him. “The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalms 145:18 NLT “Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4 NLT
Third, I need to obey Him. “You must love the LORD your God and always obey his requirements, decrees, regulations, and commands.” Deuteronomy 11:1 NLT
Walking in close fellowship with God means walking in His ways.
“But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.” Joshua 22:5 NLT
