“Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” Psalms 73:25-26 NLT
Can you join the psalmist in saying your desire for the Lord is greater than anything this world has to offer?
It really is a pretty strong statement in light of failing health and a weak spirit. The key is the psalmist's declaration that God remains the strength of his heart; for the heart is what sustains our life.
So, in the recognition of what the world lacks, along with the awareness of our own weaknesses and frailties, we discover that God is our strength. He is both the giver and sustainer of our lives. When we see this in our own lives then our desire for Lord will grow.
“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31 NLT
“I love you, LORD; you are my strength.” Psalms 18:1 NLT
