There are times when we read the Word of God as an observer. As we read, we may create an image in our mind of what we are reading, but we do so from the outside looking in…from a distance. Sometimes we ignore what is being said altogether. We finish reading and have no idea what we’ve just read…we are distracted or simply lack focus.
If we really want to experience God’s word in our lives, we need to read or listen to God’s Word interactively. To interact means to participate, act upon, or make application. Responding interactively with God’s Word can be done through… ...Praying scripture back to God ...Declaring to God that your present or future needs are being met through the fulfillment of His Word in you. ...Testifying to God and others that His Word speaks to you life circumstances Using Jeremiah 32:37-41, I’ve included an example of responding interactively: “I will certainly bring my people back again from all the countries where I will scatter them in my fury. I will bring them back to this very city and let them live in peace and safety. They will be my people, and I will be their God. And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me. I will find joy doing good for them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land.” God says… “I will bring my people back” I say… “Lord, when I have wandered away from you…you have brought me back to you time and again.” God says… “I will be their God” I say… “Lord, you are my God. THE ONE TRUE GOD.” God says… “I will give them one heart” I say… “God, you have united my heart with my family at Dry Creek…thank you Lord.” God says… “I will give them one purpose“ (to worship Him) I say… “Along with David in Psalm 34:1, I declare: 'I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.’ ” God says… “I will make an everlasting covenant with them” I say… “Jesus, because of you I have received the gift of everlasting life.” God says… “I will never stop doing good for them” I say… “Lord, thank you for the good you have done in my life…the good you are doing and the good you will do for me.” Just as God’s presence always calls for a response…God’s Word is worthy of a response as well. Bro. Joe Prayer: “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalms 119:105 AMEN
