Seeking to Follow Jesus

Reflections - March 25th - 31st - A Fully Surrendered Faith

3/25/2018

A week to remember…
  • On Sunday, Jesus rode into the city with the people shouting praises and praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.
  • On Friday, they are shouting, “give us Barabbas, we want him, crucify Jesus, crucify Him.”

Why the change?

There are many possible reasons, but one simple reason is that their words did not match their hearts.

They possessed a casual faith…not a fully surrendered faith.
  • Casual Faith - temporal, convenient, 911, opportunistic, driven by need and circumstance. A faith that conforms to me…a religion.
  • Fully Surrendered Faith - a life completely given over to the will of God…seeking His kingdom first - not my kingdom. A faith that conforms to the heart and desires of God…a relationship

They had religion…they missed the person Jesus

So how can we have a fully surrendered faith?
How can we be real and sincere?
How can we be consistent in all that we do?

  • A Fully Surrendered Faith is not self-centered, it is Christ-Centered
  • A Fully Surrendered Faith is relationship driven.
  • A Fully Surrendered Faith is not swayed or blocked by our personal trials and crises.

Are you living in a fully surrendered faith?

Bro. Joe

Questions for Reflection:
  1. Have I fully surrendered my life to Christ?
  2. Is there evidence of change in my life?

Suggested Readings -
Sunday - Luke 19:28-40
Monday - Matthew 27:11-26
Tuesday - John 15:1-8
Wednesday - John 16:5-15
Thursday - John 19
Friday - Luke 23:26-56
Saturday - Luke 24

Prayer -
Father, I want to live a fully surrendered life to your will…your ways…your desires. Lord, I can only do this through the power of the Holy Spirit living in me. Fill me…use me…guide me. Thank you Jesus for making this possible.                                                                                                               Amen
