“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The Message
Are you tired? Yes, Lord, I’m tired.
Are you worn out? Yes, Lord, I’m worn out.
Are you burned out on religion? Yes, Lord, You know I am.
Oh Father, I long to come to You. I bring my burdens, my fears, my insecurities, my hurt, my disappointments - I bring it all and give it all to You. Not just today, but everyday, let me get away with You so in Christ I might recover my life - the abundant life He came that I might live. Would You, my Lord, my God, my King, show me how to take a real rest. I want to walk with You - each day - each step. I want to work with You where You are working, oh Lord. I want to watch how You do it and learn from You. Teach me, oh Lord, Your will, Your ways, Your purposes. may I learn from You the unforced rhythms of grace. may I learn to live in the sufficiency of Your grace. Where I am weak, would You be my strength; where I lack, would You provide for my needs. Father, remind me that You will not lay anything ill-fitting on me because by Your grace the work You give me will be well-fitted to the gifts and abilities You have given me. As I keep company with You, may I learn to live freely, lightly and simply. Amen.
