“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:1-5 NLT
The Bible says that we are to intercede on behalf of others...to pray and to give thanks for them. It also makes it clear that we are to pray in this way specifically for those in authority over us. Pray for salvation, godliness and dignity for those in positions of authority, so we can all live peaceful and quiet lives. This is only possible through an understanding of the truth of reconciliation through Jesus Christ.
“For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” Colossians 1:19-20 NLT
