“Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.” Ephesians 5:10 NLT
How often do you pause to determine if your actions are pleasing to the Lord? Why would you think that it might be pretty important?
If we are focused on pleasing God in thought, word and deed, we stay away from sin.
A simple definition for sin is anything that we think, do or say that isn't pleasing to God. Anything that we fail to do that we know we should do is also sin.
Paul's encouragement to the Thessalonians applies to us today. “Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.” 1 Thessalonians 4:1 NLT
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalms 19:14 NLT
