“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:12-14 NLT
Do you sometimes have trouble letting go of your past? Maybe it's something you thought you had dealt with, and then all of a sudden it comes flooding back in your thoughts and emotions. Like Paul, King Solomon says there is one thing to focus on. We should focus on what is ahead of us, not what is behind us. “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.” Proverbs 4:25-27 NLT
Focused attention on God and His plans for you helps you to - “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
“See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”” Isaiah 12:2 NLT
As a follower of Jesus Christ you have been saved from your past. You don't have to continue reliving it. Let it go and reach out toward the future - "The heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us."
