“Meanwhile, the fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must never go out. Each morning the priest will add fresh wood to the fire and arrange the burnt offering on it. He will then burn the fat of the peace offerings on it. Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out.” Leviticus 6:12-13 NLT
How do you keep the spiritual fire burning in you life? How do you maintain the flames of passion and love for Christ from day to day?
Just as the priests were given the responsibility of keeping the fire of the altar burning all the time, never allowing it go out, we too are to keep the spiritual fire within us burning constantly.
We do this the same way the priest maintained the fire on the altar - by feeding the fire with the right fuel and by placing on the altar of our lives the proper sacrifice.
The Word of God is the fuel needed for the spiritual fire in your life. How often do you feed it?
Each morning the priests were charged to add fresh wood to the fire. Every morning we can add God's fresh Word to our spirits. Just as God's mercies are new every morning, so is His Word. “Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV
Also, just as the priests were told to burn the proper sacrifice, we too should bring the proper sacrifice to the Lord.
One sacrifice is the sacrifice of praise - “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” Hebrews 13:15 NKJV Another sacrifice is our very lives. - “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 NKJV
Keep the fire burning.
