“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” Philippians 2:3-4
“Take an interest in others” - not always an easy thing to do. Often it’s simply a matter of the heart. If my heart’s greatest concerns revolve around me and my needs, it can be difficult to make room for others. A servant’s heart consistently puts others ahead of themselves.
Jesus says, “But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:43-45
Opportunities to serve others will come. Ask the Lord to open your heart to the needs of others He brings into your life as well as the courage to do something about what you see.
