“Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you. With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever, for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death.” Psalms 86:11-13 NLT
It is obvious through the words expressed in these verses that a relationship exists between the writer and the Lord.
The psalmist had a desire to learn God's ways...to live by His truth...to honor God with a pure heart...to praise Him with all his heart...to glorify His name forever.
Have you given thought to your desires for your relationship with God? What might be your motivation for these desires to be fulfilled?
The writer was motivated by the recognition of just how much God loved him, and that He had rescued him from death.
Each of us have our own motivational factors that drive our desires toward our relationship with God. We can discover them with a couple of questions.
Who is God to me? Who am I to Him?
God wants a growing relationship with us. “So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.” Romans 5:11 NLT
Why not take this friendship to a new level?
