As a child I was taught to say the blessing at mealtime. "God is great. God is good. Let us thank Him for this food. By His hands we are fed. Thank you Lord, for daily bread."
This is such a simple prayer, yet it really says so much.
First, it speaks of the greatness of God. The Apostle Paul says it well...“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.” Romans 11:33-36 NLT
“Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together." Psalm 34:3 NLT
Declare the greatness of God in your life today.
Secondly, the prayer speaks of God's goodness. We can literally "Taste and see that the LORD is good..." Psalms 34:8 NLT
The prayer then focuses on thanking God for His provision of food…His daily provision in our lives.
Stop and think of the blessings that God has displayed through His greatness in your life and how He has shown you His goodness.
You don't have to wait until mealtime.
